I get a "character string" to write in the box which I cannot because the cursor disappears as soon as I try. I could not even send you an email (meaning send Yahoo an email ). When I try to compose an email to multiple contacts, and click on insert addresses, the page comes up blank?
Also, if I go to contacts, then check each one I want, then select compose, the page also comes up blank...

Try it this way In Yahoo:
AFTER you click on Compose to open the Compose Page, click on TO and your address book will open on top of the page you are in.
Check the boxes (TO, BC or BCC) next to those you wish to Forward to, go to the top of the list and click on "Insert Checked Contacts." The address book will close and the names you selected will be in the fields you selected. Compose your message and click Send.

You need to go to your internet providers website and find your outgoing mail SMTP. After you have it, open outlook, click tools, accounts, mail, properties, and servers and enter this info into the outgoing SMTP box. dont forget to click the apply tab.

Yahoo is still having some problems at the moment. If you look you will find lots of people cannot send/receive/delete mail at the moment. I was advised to uninstall Javascript and then reinstall the latest version. This worked for me. If it does not for you then apparently it's only in the all new version. Try returning to the Classic version for now. I am also told that the mail is in fact there in your box and is being sent. It's simply invisible in all new mail. Different things seem to work for different people. It's causing attachments to not show, 999 errors where it won't let you do a particular action and some people cannot send receive delete or move mail. It's not just Vista either it's happening to some of us on XP. I don't want people to have to use arrow key for half a mile to the right to see all the text. How can I impose a margin?

It used to be when I clicked on an email link that Yahoo Mail would open with the compose window and the "To:" and "Subject" fields already filled-in. go to your settings and pick the font and size you like. then dont forget to save that so you can use it all the time. :)

Go to Options on upper right side corner, then Mail Options.
On General tab, selected desired Plain text font type and size. Click Save Changes button to save the changes.
On the Compose Mail screen, at the end of the Subject field, click on Plain Text link. If you read Rich Text there, you're already in Plain Text settings, no changes are needed.
Now if you start typing, your selected font type and size will work. Sorry, the plain text has no color settings.

Yahoo mail does NOT support the embedding of pictures right into the mail body. You have to either attach them or link to them, here's how the linking is done: go to the website or pic on the website that you want to link to and open it. The url will be displayed in your browser window, click into it, thereby marking it. Copy the url, now you can insert it in your mail. Make sure you have a blank space before and after the url, otherwise it won't be clickable!
If you want to link to a pic which you have saved on your computer, you must get a free account with Flickr for example (belongs to Yahoo), upload your pic and then proceed as described above.

Note: Address Auto-Complete does not work for Safari, Opera, and non-JavaScript enabled browsers.
A few things to check:
Is the address that you're typing in your Address Book? If not, it won't Auto-Complete for you.
Do you have the latest Yahoo! toolbar? If not, Auto-Complete may not work.
Remember, even if you can't Auto-Complete addresses, you can still click on "To" from your Compose page to open your address book.
After you click on Compose or Forward to open the message window, click on TO and your address book will open on top of the page you are in. Check the boxes (TO, BC or BCC) next to those you wish to Forward to, go to the top of the list and click on "Insert Checked Contacts." Why is there no email body to write on whenever I want to compose an email?
When I want to compose an email, all I get is a place for the addresses, the subject title line and the send button, but no body to write my email. This has been happening for the last few days. What's wrong?

MAKE SURE YOU ARE USING A SUPPORTED BROWSER
If you are using an older browser, you can fix this by upgrading to the latest version. You will want to review the Yahoo! Help page below for the list of current browsers:

MAKE SURE JAVASCRIPT IS ENABLED
Internet Explorer 6.0:
1. Select "Tools" and click "Internet Options".
2. Switch to the "Security" tab.

TRY ANOTHER COMPUTER USING A DIFFERENT INTERNET SERVICE
Try a completely different computer and a different internet service provider to help determine if the issue is specific to the computer where you first experienced the issue. If it is computer or internet service specific, this will at least give you something to work with.

Reply:That happened to me when I tried to compose in graphics and color text. I couldn't figure it out til I remembered downloading that new photo beta thing in Yahoo. All I could compose in was plain text. I uninstalled that photo thing and now all my email works perfect. Hope this helps.

In the never ending search for security, software security products (antivirus/antispy/firewall) have a way of sometimes disabling the very things we need. This includes scripting and applets that may be used on the web. To determine if this is the case in this situation, make sure you temporarily and completely disable your software security products. If you aren鈥檛 sure how to do this, check with your software vendor.
If the issue goes away after you disable the software security product, this confirms it was causing the issue.
In the interim, you may want to turn it back on, but be sure to follow up with your software vendor for further assistance.
TURN OFF BROWSER PLUG-INS

TRY ANOTHER COMPUTER USING A DIFFERENT INTERNET SERVICE
Try a completely different computer and a different internet service provider to help determine if the issue is specific to the computer where you first experienced the issue. If it is computer or internet service specific, this will at least give you something to work with.

Reply:That happened to me when I tried to compose in graphics and color text. I couldn't figure it out til I remembered downloading that new photo beta thing in Yahoo. All I could compose in was plain text. I uninstalled that photo thing and now all my email works perfect. Hope this helps.

I'm still using Windows 98, and this worked for me.
From your mail page, click on "Help", It will take you to another page. Over to the left click on the heading "Problems and Error Messages". On the next page click on "Problems with email". It will give you a selection to choose from, select "problems composing emails", or something like that. It will then take you to a page which will give you instructions on how to fix the problem. If this works for you, then when you go to compose an email, look over to the right and if it says "Rich Text", click that. You'll get your spell check, text size options back, text color options back and so forth.
If you still have problems, there is an option on that page you went to, to have a live chat with a Customer Care representative. That's what I did, and she talked me through the steps that corrected my problem. You may have to wait for a few minutes, I did, because they're assisting other users.
The problem was that as I'm still using Windows 98, and I cannot download the lastest Internet Explorer on my system, there was a problem in my browser. Now what I have to do, is from the Mail Page, sign out of Yahoo, then at the top of the page I click on "Tools" and "Internet Options". I delete "Cookies", press "OK", delete "files", press "OK", and then "clear history", and press "OK". I can then go to the main page on Yahoo, sign in with my email address, type in my password, click the box that says "keep me signed in for 2 weeks", and click "Sign In". Reply:In our case it was the Ad Blocking feature listed under Nortons Anti-spam in our Norton's Security program. When we turned off the Ad Blocker yahoo mail compose and reply returned. the problem with doing that is you will have to put up with annoying ads that were otherwise blocked.

I don't have a tool bar at all on top of my compose box. The compose box itself has gotten rather small. I really miss putting the smiley faces on my emails. Can anyone help?

You can almost do all of this. You cannot use flash, swf, or javascript. It is just impossible. Every email provider will strip out things like this. However, the CSS and images can be done without being attachments. (which I guess you could use gifs for motion)

3. Open Outlook
4. Go to Actions -%26gt; New Mail Message Using -%26gt; More Stationery...
5. Select the stationery you want (The name of your html file)
Now if you know HTML, and CSS. Outlook, tends to do funny things with them. So it is going to be a little harder than making it for just for the web. So make sure you test it out, and send it to yourself because you will not get it right the first time. Also, the images need to be hosted on some web server.

They do all the work for you, and they have a much easier way to install their product. (Wish I could give that to you but it only works with their designs.)

I think you have to enter all the contacts from your list before composing your message. And be sure to click on "send email to" (or something like that). Hope this helps.

Mine used to, but it seems to have disappeared when they remodeled email. Now, if I'm right, in the options section, there is only an all or nothing signature option.

Sounds like a possible corruption on your browser or the java.
Try doing this...go to your email and once inside go to the URL and change the ending on it to /mc/compose
Example,

Otherwise try to update your IE (if you use Internet Explorer) to IE8 if you have not done it. Updateing the browser tends to fix corruptions.

Chain emails are not something you really want to be a part of, if its a petition from a reliable source, then all you have to do is hit the reply button and add your info at the bottom, if it is telling you to copy the list and paste it in a new email, just click in the body of the email and hold down the left mouse button while dragging the cursor over the text you want to copy , then either right click and select copy or click on the copy icon, the go to compose and right click and paste or click on the clipboard.

Why is Internet Explorer 8 putting previous email addresses in the address bar when I compose a Yahoo email?
The new Internet Explorer 8 Beta version is causing the problem. It's an intrusion into my control of Yahoo when I send emails and has already caused embarrassment when I sent a new email with a previous address Explorer 8 put in the box that I did'nt notice.

Yahoo! Cannot control/edit/change the email address that an auto-form-filler is placing in that bar. However, it is always important to make certain that you review your email message before you send it, as your email provider cannot be held responsible for what its servers are told to do by the information entered.

When I compose an email in yahoo, how do I set my Mac to detect the contact with a few letters?
Every Dell I've ever used automatically produced a list of potential contacts when I would begin entering a contacts name in the "to" line from my yahoo account. I now have a Mac, and I have to click "insert contacts" and then search for the person's name each time I write an email. I'm sure there is a simple way to fix this, anyone know how?

This should have nothing to do with what computer you have, as the e-mail program is the same for all computers. Just try writing in the first 2 letters of the name, then the contacts will all come up. Then click on the one you want.

How can I compose an email to multiples, without showing all email address but, juss showing names/nicknames?

BCC will show up when you open your address book for emailing.
After you click on Compose or Forward to open the message window, click on TO to open your address book which has been set up for emailing. You will see all three fields (To, Cc and Bcc).
Enter your name in the"TO" to box, only because at least one name is required in that field.
Then check the BCC box next to all of the names you wish to hide.

How can I compose an email draft offline before sending in order to save online time charging on dial-up conn?
My email account is on a dial-up POP connection with limited hours per month and when I don't intend spending a lot of chargable hours composing a lenghthy email draft online, but would prefer composing it offline and when completed to go online to send and save valuable time and money. MS Outlook Express allows me to do this and which also does spellcheck and puts it in Out Tray for sending it later. Can Yahoo Mail do the same thing and if so how. Please elaborate the proceedur.

If you are the great tenants you say you are, why would she want to rent to new tenants? You're a known commodity vs. her taking the chance of renting to someone who's not as good, and it costs much less to renew a tenant than to "turn" the apartment.
If she's thinking about selling to another landlord, then having your lease in place is very important, and most buyers will appreciate continuity of tenants -- it shows that the property is attractive to tenants and competitively priced in the market. If she's thinking about selling to someone who will live in the property, then you're probably out of luck.
If you're going to write a letter, I would stick with this script (assuming it's all true):
1. we enjoy living here and the place works well for our needs
2. we believe we're good tenants because . . .
3. we enjoy having you as landlord and think you do a good job, and
4. we would like to stay here, and believe it be good for both of us to negotiate a renewal.
Another thought: have you thought about calling your landlord instead of sending a letter? It's more personal, shows a higher level of interest on your part, and you get your answer (hopefully) quicker.
