starting yesterday, when I would reply or compose an email on yahoo, the page on which i need to type my email has changed. the font is "old school" like when computers first started, spell check is old style, and addresses in my adress book do not come up automatically. What did I do? how can I fix this? I can still send emails but even the person getting them has said that they are different.

When I sign it at work; the email works fine but not when I am on my home computer, I can't send an email because I can't get the compase message box to appear so I can type a message.

But ... its probably because of your web browser. The compose page, uses andvnced features of web browser. sometimes just 'Internet Explorer' support these features. Even older IE's , may cause some problems.

Yahoo is still having some problems at the moment. If you look you will find lots of people cannot send/receive/delete mail at the moment. I was advised to uninstall Javascript and then reinstall the latest version. This worked for me. If it does not for you then apparently it's only in the all new version. Try returning to the Classic version for now. I am also told that the mail is in fact there in your box and is being sent. It's simply invisible in all new mail. IF you want to be able to pick a different font--different size--change the colors--make it Bold or italic--underlined--spell check--etc. Then use Rich Text (html).
If you don't want any of those options, and are satisfied with just plain old everyday text with no options----then use Plain Text.

How do I underline a portion of an email address in the compose box?
Usually the system does that automatically. When you put in an email address, or a URL and move the space bar to the end of the word and one space beyond, it automatically underlines the address and colors it blue.

Thousands are having all kinds of problems with their mail since the new format, with Server Farm issues with Original Mail AND Beta Mail, several months ago!
Yahoo! and Sun Java are also having conflicts. Rather than trying to work around them, here is the easy and fastest way to cure them (for most). Go to Tools, open Internet Options, and select Advance tab. Scroll down the list and see if you have Microsoft Virtual Machine listed, if so, uncheck the 2 java鈥檚 listed. Make sure JIT is checked, click apply then ok. and then Close. This lets MSN virtual machine launch Yahoo! mail.
If not: http://us.m.yahoo.com/
Also: you will have less problems with Mail if you sign in via Messenger! Go to preferences, general, then check box: Automatically sign me in when I click a Yahoo! link in Messenger. Then click on the little envelope icon on top of messenger box. Or go to My Yahoo and click on your mail link. Or click on the Big RED Y! on the Yahoo! Toolbar. Bottom line is any link that already has you signed in!!!
I recommend that you use Original Mail until beta works out the bugs. FYI, beta means TESTING. Go back to IE6 which works just fine and is problem free. It is still installed on your pc. If you are using Yahoo Mail Plus, and your server farm has problems, switch to the free service until things are worked out.
NOTE: Use beta software at your own risk; it is intended for testing and evaluation purposes only. Do not install beta software on your primary computer or production environment.

When ever we try to compose an email all the text shows up in cursive. Help?
Everytime my friend's mother try to compose an email, all the text shows up in cursive lettering. I checked everything out on hers and it says its set to the right things, however she can't even click on the tool bar to chage the font or type size, color anything. When I loged onto my computer, though, it all works on my yahoo account. Any ideas?

At one time there was a box at the bottom of my "compose"an email page that would allow me to add my signature
now that box is no longer avalible? I don't want my signature on all out going messages. I need to have the option to not send my signature.

There are unwelcome and definitely unpopular changes being phased in slowly, (but steadily), to our original Classic Mail page. AND we can't do anything about it.
The signature option is just one of them. It now is added to the top of every outgoing email----and if you don't want it----you will have to delete it out as you would any other text in the body of the mail.

After you click on "Compose", your message box will open. Click in the "TO" field and your address book will open.
You can place a check mark next to each contact you want to send to, go to the top of the list and click on "Insert Checked Contacts". Type your message and click "Send".

I've never typed it before and no one has sent me a message with this in it...even tho its kinda funny its also a little annoying.

Why? Because you most likely have a virus of some sort. IN reality, probably not so funny really. Hopefully your virus scan will clean it up. Otherwise you may incur further problems, the very least being that that naughty little message ends up attaching itself to all your outgoing emails even if you think you've deleted it. Hopefully, it clears up. That could be embarrassing.

For you folks that are crisscrossing back and forth between Beta and Classic, is it worth the crap just to say you have the new Yahoo email? I tried Beta for 24 hours, and couldn't get back to Classic fast enough. No more.

Thousands are having all kinds of problems with their mail since the new format, with Server Farm issues with Original Mail AND Beta Mail, several months ago!
Yahoo! and Sun Java are also having conflicts. Rather than trying to work around them, here is the easy and fastest way to cure them (for most). Go to Tools, open Internet Options, and select Advance tab. Scroll down the list and see if you have Microsoft Virtual Machine listed, if so, uncheck the 2 java隆炉s listed. Make sure JIT is checked, click apply then ok. and then Close. This lets MSN virtual machine launch Yahoo! mail.
If you don't have MSN VM, get it here:

Also: you will have less problems with Mail if you sign in via Messenger! Go to preferences, general, then check box: Automatically sign me in when I click a Yahoo! link in Messenger. Bottom line is any link that already has you signed in!!!
I recommend that you use Original Mail until beta works out the bugs. Just click on Switch Back on the top of your mail page. FYI, beta means TESTING. Go back to IE6 which works just fine and is problem free. It is still installed on your pc. Just go to Start, setting, and add/remove programs and delete IE7. If you are using Yahoo Mail Plus, and your server farm has problems, switch to the free service until things are worked out.
NOTE: Use beta software at your own risk; it is intended for testing and evaluation purposes only. Do not install beta software on your primary computer or production environment.
You may also need to update your Windows.

I think you cannot send the e-card through email. If you use Yahoo! Greetings (whether Australian ones or other countries) and wish to send the cards, you got to personalize them first and then hit the 'send' button on the personalization page.

When I compose an email, the enter key does not work to go to another line. Key works otherwise.?
Try using the "tab" key. In some e-mail providers "tab" works superior to "enter"

Yahoo is apparently having some problems at the moment. If you look you will find lots of people cannot send/receive/delete mail at the moment. Apparently it's only in the beta version. Try returning to the Classic version for now. Hopefully it will be sorted soon. Good luck.

There is nothing like photo insert, but you could actually attach an image file so that it appears on the receivers email at bottom ( depending on service of the opposite person. some times it appears as a weblink again ).
When you tgo to compose email you can actually press attach files and do this stuff.

well i dont know if you are talking about outlook or something else but
my guess is that you are not allowing pop-ups
so just lower the security level to medium or med high depends on what you have it
that should do it

Some photos will not copy and paste to email(compose). i don't want to send as attachment?

The only way to post a picture in the body of a yahoo email your photos need to be web generated or on a site like flickr or photobucket then right click on the picture and copy then right click and paste in your email.

Why did u remove the email address from the compose section of the email?
When forwarding , or composing an email. why is it that the email address no longer populate when you select the first letter of the person (s) name you are sending the email to. (nor the insert address it not actiive) I am not no good at remembering persons name, hence the previous method was very helpful to me. I would appreciate if it is returned, thanks a lot.

You don't give any details, so I'm just guessing here, but it sounds like you think it's missing.
Assuming you made it, as described above, AND saved it------look to see if the little box on your composing page is checked. If not----then check it when you want the signature added.
It will only be visible on the sent mail.
Look at your sent mail in the sent folder------OR send an email to yourself and you should see it.

Click "Options" ("Mail Options" for Beta) in the upper-right corner of your Mail page.
Under “Management”, click Signature.
Before you start typing, choose if you want to have your signature appear in plain text or in color and graphics. Above the text area, next to the word “Editor:”, click either Plain or Color and Graphics. With the toolbar that appears when you select color and graphics, you can choose which font you’d like to use and how you’d like to format and color it.
Now, add or change your signature by typing in the text area.
Check "Add signature to all outgoing messages" for your signature to appear on the emails you send. Anytime you’d rather not use the signature, return to this page and un-check “Add signature...” to turn it off.
Remember to click Save when you're done. This puts your new signature into effect.

Under “Management”, click Signature.
Before you start typing, choose if you want to have your signature appear in plain text or in color and graphics. Above the text area, next to the word “Editor:”, click either Plain or Color and Graphics. With the toolbar that appears when you select color and graphics, you can choose which font you’d like to use and how you’d like to format and color it.
Now, add or change your signature by typing in the text area.
Check "Add signature to all outgoing messages" for your signature to appear on the emails you send. Anytime you’d rather not use the signature, return to this page and un-check “Add signature...” to turn it off.
Remember to click Save when you're done. This puts your new signature into effect.

When I try to attach an email address of one of my contacts to compose an email, their address will not attach
Yahoo is still having some problems at the moment. If you look you will find lots of people cannot send/receive/delete mail at the moment. I was advised to uninstall Javascript and then reinstall the latest version. This worked for me. If it does not for you then apparently it's only in the all new version. I've gone to Yahoo Help, there I was told to click on "contact us" button below, but there was no such button below.

Yahoo is still having some problems at the moment. Suggested cures range from Update Adobe Flash Player and Javascript to clear IE7 cache, cookies, and browsing history. Different things seem to work for different people. It's causing attachments to not show, 999 errors where it won't let you do a particular action and some people cannot send recieve delete or move mail. It's not just Vista either it's happening to some of us on XP. I have been advised to use this site to view my mail, www.mail2web.com if all else fails go back to classic mail via this link. http://us.mg1.mail.yahoo.com/dc/optout?s... click yes when asked do you want to opt out. You can try to re-enable it-----go to mail page and click "options"----then "general preferences". Go down to "composing email" and re-check the box------"compose with color and graphics" and then click "save" at bottom of page. Hope it works for you.

My guess would be you arent clicking on the message area before you type? You have to do this to put the cursor in there!

What happened to copy/cut/paste options when i compose email in yahoo. used to be options in toolbar now gone.

How do I change the background color on Yahoo when I compose an email.?
When I compose a letter in Yahoo on my laptop, the background of the text is white, but if I go to my father in law's computer and try to compose a letter on the same Yahoo account, the background of the text is bright blue. Once I am in the COMPOSE or REPLY screen in Yahoo mail, none of the buttons work. I can鈥檛 send, add attachments, etc. Any ideas, please help!

When I want to compose or forward and email, my contact address book will not come up. What can be the proble?

Shouldnt the Yahoo compose email dialog turn off autocomplete?
in the "captcha" area? (recognizing letters and numbers), Autocomplete should not be used there because each time the generated symbols are different.
Further is anybody else annoyed by the Oracle command line SQL Client SQLPLUS when it is used in Unix? Even for 1 record all the field names and hyphens are mis-aligned. Doesnt the system know there is only one record and display the record as:

FieldName : VALUE
or, if there are two or more records, display it in a simple tabular format that even MYSQL does?

I had this problem 2 days ago and it lasted for about a day then it went away. I do not know what the problem was but it is fixed now. I know a lot of people are having the same problems. Good luck!!!

Different things seem to work for different people. It's causing attachments to not show, 999 errors where it won't let you do a particular action and some people cannot send recieve delete or move mail. It's not just Vista either it's happening to some of us on XP. Why do I get kicked back to the yahoo home email page when I try to compose a message a group in my add bk?
Recently when I select a group from my address book, click to send a message to all, it does not take me to compose, it kicks me back to yahoo home email page. Why is this and why did it only begin happening a few days ago?

After composing an EMail, I tried to print it. It only printed what was in the attachment box. How do I print all of the message without having to scroll down and print again?

Sounds like that account was switched over to the New Mail, click Mail Classic at the top of your mail screen and follow the prompts.

I recently switched from internet explorer to google chrome and if I go to yahoo mail thru chrome I can't compose new mail. If I go to my mail thru explorer my mail works fine. Has anyone else had this problem?

yes. it is a silly question! (guess you use yahoo)don't you see a big button named STATIONARY? if you don't have that click on options in the upper right then u can easily find out!

Yahoo is having all kinds of problems with email, IM, 360, etc... it is not your computer. This has been going on for awhile. Maybe they will get it fixed soon!!!

Thousands are having all kinds of problems with their mail since the new format, with Server Farm issues with Original Mail AND Beta Mail, several months ago!
Yahoo! and Sun Java are also having conflicts. Rather than trying to work around them, here is the easy and fastest way to cure them (for most). Go to Tools, open Internet Options, and select Advance tab. Scroll down the list and see if you have Microsoft Virtual Machine listed, if so, uncheck the 2 java鈥檚 listed. Make sure JIT is checked, click apply then ok. and then Close. This lets MSN virtual machine launch Yahoo! mail. I reccomend that you use Original Mail until beta works out the bugs. FYI, beta means TESTING. Go back to IE6 which works just fine and is problem free. It is still installed on your pc. If you are using Yahoo Mail Plus, and your server farm has problems, switch to the free service until things are worked out.
If not:
You will have less problems with Mail if you sign in via Messenger! Go to preferences, general, then check box: Automatically sign me in when I click a Yahoo! link in Messenger. Then click on the little envelope icon on top of messenger box. Or go to My Yahoo and click on your mail link. Or click on the Big RED Y! on the Yahoo! Toolbar. Bottom line is any link that already has you signed in!!!
NOTE: Use beta software at your own risk; it is intended for testing and evaluation purposes only. Do not install beta software on your primary computer or production environment.

Why cant I compose any messages in my email, but I can recieve and read my emails?
This has been going on for about three days now. No matter what I've tried I can not in anyway compose any messages. The box to compose messages does not even come up on my screen. It will allow me to enter my address I'm sending to and write a subject in the subject box, but the compose box is not there.

beta is not yet working and has some bugs. maybe go back to the regular mail and do it from there.

For the past week i can receive emails, but cannot compose or send out any emails. Any way to fix this problem.

I'm having the same problem and apparently there is no way to contact Yahoo???? At least I haven't found a way to get help yet other than this! :( Sorry I can't help you but I sure hope someone has the answer.
