Yahoo has been "flitting" around zapping that function here and there, with no apparent order or explanation.
You can try to re-enable it-----go to mail page and click "options"----then "general preferences". Go down to "composing email" and re-check the box------"compose with color and graphics" and then click "save" at bottom of page. Hope it works for you.

Sometimes the Compose page doesn't open properly, usually when the internet is really busy. When this happens, press F5 to force the page to reload. Or you could close the Compose page and reopen it to force a reload. You might have to try it a few times before it will finally open correctly.
